His mom is catholic, his dad was Jewish. He isn't religious
That doesn't apply here. In an academic context, "Jewish" can refer to ethnicity and/or culture rather than religion, such as with Jewish atheism or secular Judaism. Furthermore, if you look at Category:Jewish rock musicians, you will see it contains people like Lou Reed, Adam Lambert, and Pink, who are ethnically Jewish and may have been raised in that culture but otherwise do not practice religion of any kind. Therefore, in this context, it would be no less inaccurate to call him "Jewish" than to refer to him as Polish or Italian.-- Invisiboy42293 ( talk) 00:21, 14 April 2016 (UTC)
When he was 22, he dated a lady who was 30. To me, this does not seem to qualify as a "May-December" romance. Your thoughts? Seaphoto 18:30, 17 September 2006 (UTC)

The first paragraph in the Career section says, "Despite leaving the band for an acting career...." However, I'm not sure that this is an accurate statement. His first major role as Max Fischer in Rushmore happened four years before his band Phantom Planet's CD The Guest was released, and their subsequent tour. Perhaps this paragraph needs reworked? -- 68.33.67.139 03:35, 7 April 2007 (UTC)
It says 'the band he is in' as Phantom Planet, though as their wiki page shows he is an ex member. This article also states his current band/solo project as Coconut Records. I dont have a profile to edit with so maybe someone can fix this in the official wiki way. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 172.159.19.51 ( talk) 03:20, 27 December 2007 (UTC)
Ok the picture is obviously one some fangirls took with him and needs to be changed to a publicity photo or at least something professional-- GeddyIsGodYYZ 17:40, 17 July 2007 (UTC)

Much of the "trivia" listed here was emblematic (until I deleted it) of exactly why trivia sections are frowned upon. Half of the trivia was blatant advertising for brands of restaurants, food and websites. Stupid. Robotempire 14:36, 6 September 2007 (UTC)
I met him today in the Tompkin's Square Park Dog Run. He has a large French Bulldog, who may be named Buddy. He said they live in the East Village in NYC. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 68.173.69.125 ( talk) 02:34, 11 March 2010 (UTC)
Jason was a founding member of Phantom Planet. Shouldn't that be added? —Preceding unsigned comment added by Mynameisjimi ( talk • contribs) 23:54, 24 October 2009 (UTC)
The article says that Jason is in the video for "It's all about the Benjamins, Rock Remix" but I don't believe that this is the case. Could we get a citation or something for this? Nels Beckman ( talk) 11:57, 19 February 2010 (UTC)

Under Wikipedia's rules, a person does not get multiple distinct articles just because they're known by different names in different fields of endeavour — a person who's notable both as a writer and as a musician does not get two separate articles just because he uses different names for each activity. Coconut Records (musician) does not describe its subject as a band in which Schwartzman is a member, but as a solo project where he's assisted by a rotating lineup of guest contributors — so it doesn't warrant a separate article from his main one, but should be covered in the same place as his writing/directing work. For a similar example, we do not maintain a separate article about each individual project name that Will Oldham has used on different albums — we maintain one article about Oldham himself, and each of his stage names (Bonnie Prince Billy, Palace Music, etc.) is just a redirect to that one article.
