The name is Vardy, not Varney. As far as I can tell, the only source using the Varney spelling is this FA article which would appear to be a typo. Every source used in the article, Fleetwood Town's website, and the Football Association's registrations list, spell it, correctly, Vardy. cheers, Struway2 ( talk) 22:29, 25 November 2011 (UTC)

It's clear that Vardy is engaged to a woman whose name would be pronounced "Ruh-beh-kuh Wilson" but her given name is spelt differently in different sources, many of which are red-top trash and name her in stories which I would never link to because of their outrageous claims and lack of credibility.
Does anyone have a reliable source on how the soon-to-be Mrs Vardy spells her name? '''tAD''' ( talk) 22:32, 22 March 2016 (UTC)

This is wrong. James Vardy started training professional at 15, he came to Leicester at the age of 16 and is now play football in Chelsea 188.120.90.162 ( talk) 10:19, 25 April 2016 (UTC)
User:Part has been reverted for changing the template of the infobox to include the names of Vardy's parents and his date of marriage. I feel this fails WP:DISINFOBOX as this is trivial detail for Vardy who is most known for being a footballer rather than who his family members are.
There are people for whom their family members are an important part of understanding the person, like Elizabeth II, but even there the family details are put after the person's work in the infobox.
I would like for Part to explain their reasons for changing the format, and for other users to comment on whether such a change was appropriate. '''tAD''' ( talk) 20:59, 1 June 2016 (UTC)

Someone has been using an IP address to pipe in the team name which has been resulting in an edit war with a registered user. In my view, the preview should still be read as F.C. Halifax Town to avoid any possible confusion between both clubs from the town. Compare these six revisions ( 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 and 6) compared with the following reverts ( 7, 8, 9 and 10). In the reverted differences, there have been good reasons as to why it should be left as the original F.C. Halifax Town preview rather than just Halifax Town. Iggy ( Swan) 15:56, 10 April 2019 (UTC)

Regarding his consecutive scoring matches, the sentence - Had he done so, he would have equalled the English top flight record of 12 consecutive scoring matches set by Jimmy Dunne for Sheffield United in 1931/32 – is incorrect. That record was broken in 1950-51 by Stan Mortensen, who scored in 15 consecutive matches and is still the top flight record today. http://www.enfa.co.uk/stats-gruns.htm Spare Koppers ( talk) 08:58, 6 January 2023 (UTC)
Over the last few years I've been accumulating Stocksbridge programmes from this era in the hope of being able to add the stats. Is it possible/allowed to add photos of the programmes to this talk page so that others can see the relevant pages?
In the mean time, there are only 2 possible gaps in the data, and they bookend his time at SPS:
I only have data for the 2005/06 season up to 6 April 2006. Vardy had only played 1 game all season up to this point (in a minor cup competition) so I can't imagine him featuring much in the run-in, but this is a gap in the data and as such as I have included a footnote to that effect. The remaining fixtures were:
08/04/2006 Rossendale United
10/04/2006 Spalding United
12/04/2006 Parkgate (
SHSC)
CONFIRMED NO APPEARANCE
14/04/2006 Brigg Town
17/04/2006 Gresley Rovers
CONFIRMED NO APPEARANCE
20/04/2006 Kidsgrove Athletic
22/04/2006 Bridlington Town
23/04/2006 Fleetwood Town
25/04/2006 Kendal Town
27/04/2006 Clitheroe
CONFIRMED NO APPEARANCE
29/04/2006 Colwyn Bay
01/05/2006 Kendal Town (playoffs)
The only other potential discrepancy is the last game of his final season with the club: 24/4/2010 v Whitby Town. Vardy is listed as an unused sub in the season summary provided in the 28/07/10 programme, but no substitutes are listed as coming on in that game – in fact no substitutes are listed as coming on at all in April 2010! I'm very suspicious that no subs were made. I haven't added a footnote for this one though because at the end of the day Wikipedia is there to reflect the sources, and the source says he was unused.
I haven't been able to spend too long researching these gaps, so if you can find line-ups for any of the 2006 matches, or something to prove whether Vardy was used as a sub on 24/04/2010, please let me know! Nonleagueapps ( talk) 00:22, 5 January 2024 (UTC)
