This man is clearly Scottish not English - place of birth and education .I have changed nationality to reflect this Argyll Lassie 11:07, 19 May 2006 (UTC) reply

Does anybody know how his last name is pronounced? Lampman ( talk) 23:15, 9 January 2009 (UTC) reply

Order of Bath

The article states that Gairdner was created a Commander of the Order of Bath.

This confused me as there are no "commanders", only "knight commanders"; and he's not called Sir James Gairdner.

His listing within the Oxford Dictionary of National Biography makes no mention of receiving the Order of Bath. And I can't find anything online referring to him as "Sir".

So is it just an error? -- Rushton2010 ( talk) 19:48, 11 September 2013 (UTC) reply
