It's the official, local and historically correct name. The use in local English media, such as radio, seems to use both names equally. Out of respect for the people of the town, we should use the proper name. —

The idea that the town is waiting with baited breath for the English-speaking world's expression of deepest "respect" through the mouthpiece of en.wikipedia.org is comical. Local names don't necessarily prevail - see
Firenze. Historically correct - to whom? Speakers of which language? At what point in history? Who's the arbiter of what's correct? Use what it's commonly called in English and that's that - a bit of evidence that we can check would be nice.

Bridge Failure
A bridge at Jalon failed while a funeral procession was passing over. [1]
