I've read Kinch was considered the finest test pilot of his generation. Is it true he was black? (I confess ignorance...) Is a pic available? Trekphiler 00:04, 6 December 2005 (UTC)
Black? I'm wondering if you're thinking of the fictional character of Ivan Kinchloe from TV's Hogan's Heroes (potentially a tribute to the real Kincheloe)? Greg Salter 16:59, 24 June 2007 (UTC)

The date of the base closure is listed as October, 1971. I was stationed there from October 1973 to June 1977. I believe the base closed in October, 1977

I frequently use Wikipedia pages as "For more information:" for a Facebook history page I host.
The address for this Wikipedia page has a period at the end ( /info/en/?search=Iven_Carl_Kincheloe_Jr.). That period drops off when it is hyperlinked and the page redirects to ( /info/en/?search=Iven_Carl_Kincheloe_Jr) without the period. The redirected page is an invalid page.
Can someone help correct this? If so, please explain how to do this in case I encounter it again. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Lifeasgijoe ( talk • contribs) 00:24, 26 July 2018 (UTC)
This article claims that Mel Apt was the first pilot to reach Mach 3 on the flight when he crashed. However, given that the speed of sound decreases with altitude, and Kincheloe reached speeds in excess of 2,000 mph at altitude, is it possible that Kincheloe, not Apt, ought to be given credit for the first flight at or above Mach 3? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 68.71.166.188 ( talk) 04:58, 9 June 2023 (UTC)
