The Sterkh and Nadezhda satellites are part of the system. Latest Sterkh satellites were launched this year (2009). Could someone insert information about these satellites into the article? Offliner ( talk) 21:28, 20 September 2009 (UTC)
There was reference to dialing 911. i changed it to 112 as it works world wide. All us GSM phones accept 112.--

The article mentioned that 243 MHz should be in the UHF band. By the definitions I know the UHF band starts at 300 MHz and ends at 3 GHz, which puts 243 MHz in the VHF band. I have corrected this error. If anyone disagrees with this I think it would be more productive to have a dialogue on this page instead of just edit warring. I've used the Wayback machine/archive.org to restore the external link to the detailed technosci.com page http://www.mcmurdogroup.com/search-and-rescue-ecosystem-infographic/ as Techno-Sciences, Inc. has been acquired by the McMurdo Group and the original website http://www.technosci.com is just a generic redirect.
From:
McMurdo Group (Techno-Sciences, Inc)—Bringing Emergency Relief To Australia + New Zealand (SAR) September 2nd, 2014
...Techno-Sciences, Inc. (TSi), a recently-acquired company of McMurdo Group, ...
The new owner has a page which describes the SARSAT service, but with big pictures, and much less detail. http://www.mcmurdogroup.com/search-and-rescue-ecosystem-infographic/
Perhaps a more detailed page will be available soon...
