In response to future suggestions to merge. It is true that the page
Inert gas#Applications exists. But there are many specialized inert gas applications, fire and explosion prevention engineering is one, and there at so many sources that covers this particular application in depth, standards, peer reviewed articles, that a separate page on this subject is warranted. May I add that the
Inert gas#Applications page is a messy affair, covering controlled atmosphere in food packaging, passive cover welding gasses, protecting a US Constitution document under argon cover, and inerting system on crude oil vessels (another type of inerting). A standalone article is warranted.
