I can see the logic, but I would personally lean against it. My entire reason is simply that while "branch" is used in our definition and others, it's not really a synonym. Without even more context, an "economic branch" could mean several other things, whereas "sector" & "industry" are the go-to terms for their respective classification levels. --

Industry.

The Ngram is not really helpful since industry is such a common word with multiple meanings. But comparing
economic branch with economic industry shows a preference IMHO for economic branch. But overall I‘d prefer the current title industry. --

Oppose any move I dabbed 2,000 incoming links to "industry" dab page. I concluded that there is no primary topic. However, I think that this topic is most commonly referred to as "industry". (
