I looked this up because I'm bored and I'm taking this train later today, from Champaign to Chicago. However, it provides little useful information, and who outside of Illinois will have heard of or care about this train? I understand train stations and rail companies, but individual trains or small routes? Are we going to have a Wikiproject about all of the individual buses that operate in the United States? What is the point of this? Just a question. Tractorkingsfan 13:34, 25 October 2006 (UTC)
Should this be merged with Saluki (Amtrak)? They are the same route. -- Elliskev 15:02, 30 October 2006 (UTC)
I have change my suggestion from merge with Saluki (Amtrak) to merge into Illinois Service. See comments/discussion at Talk:Carl Sandburg (Amtrak). In a nutshell, the six routes that make up the Illinois Service are really just components of that service. I think a nice article could be made from the collection of start class articles. -- Elliskev 14:05, 31 October 2006 (UTC)
As someone who just stumbled on this article. Can I ask some questions?
A map of the route would be useful. TiffaF 12:48, 1 July 2007 (UTC)
I propose that this article and Saluki be merged into a new joint article, Illini and Saluki. I've prepared a draft at User:Mackensen/Illini and Saluki. In the event of a merger I think this article should just be moved to preserve the edit history, and then edited. The Saluki inevitably duplicates this article and I no longer think that it makes sense to keep them separate. Mackensen (talk) 13:29, 6 February 2015 (UTC)

I'm not sure I agree with using a map as the infobox image. The infobox already houses an RDT, and the KML map is displayed atop the page. I would rather to have a quality illustrative image of the train in the infobox, instead of a third map. Pi.1415926535 ( talk) 06:10, 9 August 2017 (UTC)
