Looking at the sources, it seems that the specific 1601 incident is a minor event in the context of a larger process of subjugation by Spain against the Igorot people. A few of the cited sources mention the 1601 "revolt": The Esquire article, W. H. Scott's book The Discovery of the Igorots, and the elaput page. The Esquire article mentions 1601 but cites Scott's book as the source. The elaput page mentions 1601 in saying that an attack took place in Pantabangan at that time.

William Henry Scott offers the most complete picture: In 1601, Esteban Marin tried to cool tensions among the Igorot people and was killed as a result. It barely gets a sentence of mention on page 9. It mentions that modern history textbooks refer to it. My copy of History of the Filipino People doesn't mention this. Blair and Robertson (which is 55 volumes of primary sources) barely mentions Esteban Marin or the 1601 incident as well.

Reading through other sources reveals that Igorot resistance against Spain spanned the entirety of Spanish colonization. I think the article would better be served if it was rewritten to reflect this, instead of focusing on a single incident. NyanThousand ( talk) 02:16, 24 July 2024 (UTC) reply
