68.9.64.19: I copied that Harrison quote right out of his autobiography, so I'm pretty sure it's right. The Personnel section is copied out of Revolution In the Head; it might not be accurate, but if you're going to correct it, you should cite another source for it. -- typhoon 05:24, 23 May 2006 (UTC)
Just thought I should add that this song's composition is very similar to George's 'Here Comes the Sun' which employs the same 'D Nut' chord technique to create the vocal melody. Interestingly, for 'Here Comes the Sun' George once again capoes his guitar on the 7th fret making the final key A major (the same as he does here for 'If I Needed Someone').
Thought you might like to add this detail to the current page for this song.
Thanks.

Please remove `...The Quiet Beatle...' The term is overused (now almost a cliche), unnecessary and superfluous. Lux dixon ( talk) 17:11, 13 July 2010 (UTC)
I don't understand if the note 2 --> "The Drivetime Show presented by Stuart Maconie, BBC Radio 2, 7 June 2004" is a book or... what? The same case is for the note 8, and 9. Can someone help me? Plz? Thaaaaanks. -- 79.45.5.37 ( talk) 19:39, 13 March 2012 (UTC)
the article's main section claims "they were quite critical and said they had made a mistake recording it" ... "because it only reached 20". Is this reason enough to be generally critical about the song? Does this belong to the main section of this article? Reference needed please ( E-Kartoffel ( talk) 12:15, 10 April 2012 (UTC)).
Presently, I would say that there are no ill feelings held between at least George Harrison's son and Tony Hick's family (of the Hollies, still playing lead guitar). As evidence I copied this from Tony Hick's Wikipedia page: "His son Paul Hicks has worked as an award winning sound engineer at Abbey Road Studios and having earlier assisted with preparing mixes of several vintage Hollies recordings was then involved with projects by Pink Floyd, Paul McCartney and George Harrison, then several of The Beatles remastering projects, notably the Anthology and Let It Be... Naked albums, plus was involved in the recent remastering of the mono versions of The Beatles back catalogue on Compact Disc. Paul, along with pal Dhani Harrison, is a member of the band thenewno2, whose music was featured in the 2013 movie, Beautiful Creatures." I hope that people will let old wounds heal. — Preceding unsigned comment added by ProfJayJay ( talk • contribs) 01:23, 27 October 2013 (UTC)
George Harrison and Tony Hicks were next door neighbours later and their sons became good friends Graham Nash had been against The Hollies covering 'If I Needed Someone' because he didn't want it to look as if The Hollies were relying on The Beatles to write hits for them (they had composed their 1964 UK hit 'We're Through' that made no.7 and would go on to write their own 'A' sides from late 1966). Nash was out voted as the rest of the band wanted to cover the song which Beatles producer George Martin had suggested to his EMI colleague Hollies producer Ron Richards might be suitable for The Hollies (who were first to put a George Harrison song into the UK Top Twenty - four years before George could do it himself with 'Something' in 1969). The Hollies cover was climbing up the UK chart when George's negative comments in the NME music paper effectively stopped it's progress as sales stalled after that - depriving George of further royalties, and a better songwriting case to impress Martin, Lennon, and McCartney (who must have nevertheless noticed 'only a George song' was in the UK Top Twenty chart).John Lennon later praised up The Hollies 1971 single 'Hey Willy' when doing a guest singles review in the UK music press, and Graham Nash was invited to sing on 'All You Need is Love' recording as part of The Beatles 'friends'- The Hollies namechecked 'Lovely Rita Meter Maid' in their song; 'Do The Best You Can' (1968) and sang a live version of 'Let it Be' as a tribute in their 1971 concerts, while Paul and Linda McCartney later loaned The Hollies their synth (used on 'Band on The Run') for their 1975 track; 'Another Night', so they all became friends after this mid sixties incident.Grella
there is (very nice) cover by James Taylor from his syracus live album (1970). maybe this should be mentioned, too? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 79.242.91.152 ( talk) 18:43, 6 November 2013 (UTC)
I don't think the American compilation should be in the lede, but it's not a big deal as long as the infobox reflects the song the album is actually from. I just don't believe it's relevant to the lede, or at least if the trivia needs to be kept it should be moved away from the mention of Rubber Soul. Worded as it is can be seen as trivializing its status on Rubber Soul. YouCanDoBetter ( talk) 19:59, 4 January 2022 (UTC)
How come I can’t edit George playing a 12 string guitar in personal when it’s clearly stated in the recording section that he plays his 1965 Rickenbacker 360/12? I added a source to no avail. Tylerboyd17 ( talk) 01:33, 23 October 2023 (UTC)
