Ibrahima Konaté (born 25 May 1999) is a French professional footballer who plays as a centre-back for Bundesliga club RB Leipzig and the France U21 national team, with an agreement to join Liverpool in July 2021, pending international clearance and a work permit.

The 22-year-old central defender will officially become a Liverpool player on 1 July having finalised personal terms last month and passed a medical. Konaté, whose transfer is subject to international clearance and a work permit, was Jürgen Klopp’s first choice to strengthen the department that was blighted by injury last season.

On 28 May 2021, Liverpool announced that they had reached an agreement with RB Leipzig to acquire Konaté on 1 July, pending international clearance and a work permit being granted. [2] The club had already agreed personal terms with the player in April 2021 [3], and triggered his release clause of approximately £36 million in May 2021. [4]
