@ Dsimic: do you have a source (or two) that indicates that Multicast snooping is a synonym for IGMP snooping. This source indicates that multicast snooping is something different. ~ Kvng ( talk) 17:22, 20 September 2015 (UTC)
I came here to find out why I had to turn on IGMP Snooping on my router in order to get my mDNS (AKA Bonjour AKA Avahi AKA ZeroConf) services to work across networks. I was able to see hostnames being advertised on another WiFi network on the same router, thanks to IGMP Snoop, but why? I hoped Wikipedia could give me a general sense, but not only do I not understand why, it doesn't even look like that's what it is supposed to do. Perhaps a new introductory paragraph is needed? 24.16.239.30 ( talk) 18:27, 27 October 2022 (UTC)
