The reference says "... down to the end of the war".
Pretty unlikely he received a pension while living in the USA during WWII. Could this be instead be something like "received a pension up to the beginning of WWII" ?-- Jrm2007 ( talk) 23:57, 27 February 2014 (UTC)
Based on some research, it seems pretty conclusive that he died on 22 June 1962. None of these are particularly academic sources, but the following four links seem to independently confirm it, including the photo of his grave (as "Henry G. Grant"):

I removed the speedy delete notice. Gutmann is a figure mentioned in numerous historical texts and he's been portrayed in at least two films. The article could use improvement with inline citations, but doesn't even come near to criteria for speedy deletion. - O.R. Comms 19:57, 6 March 2018 (UTC)
