Almost nothing is said of these parties. They were NDP predecessors shouldn't they have a brief history given? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 70.73.81.10 ( talk) 06:32, 18 December 2014 (UTC)
I'm suggesting that New Party (Canada) be merged into this article. It is noteworthy as an historical footnote only. "New Party" was an interim name that had no lasting significance, other than as a precursor to the NDP, and ran only two candidates under that banner, in a pair of byelections. In response to the note on the main page, the CCF was already clearly a social democratic party. The ideology of the N.D.P. was also social democratic. There is little to discuss.

I check pages listed in Category:Pages with incorrect ref formatting to try to fix reference errors. One of the things I do is look for content for orphaned references in wikilinked articles. I have found content for some of History of the New Democratic Party's orphans, the problem is that I found more than one version. I can't determine which (if any) is correct for this article, so I am asking for a sentient editor to look it over and copy the correct ref content into this article.
