This article is in dire need of editing.-- Lawrlafo ( talk) 12:59, 20 November 2009 (UTC)
Hispanism is not a synonym of Hispanic. Hispanism is an academic field focusing on literature and culture of the Spanish-speaking world. It is not an ethnic category.-- Lawrlafo ( talk) 13:23, 20 November 2009 (UTC)
I have been fixing the sections titled Origins, Hispanism in the United States and Canada, Hispanism in Israel, and Hispanism in the Arab world but this article still needs extensive corrections. I have been consulting the Spanish version to figure out what the article should say. Feel free to continue to correct.-- Lawrlafo ( talk) 05:27, 4 December 2009 (UTC)
This article is already "too" long, but... Has anyone thought about including material on Hispanism in Spain and Spanish America? What is the appropriate place for a similar treatment of people like Andrés Bello, Américo Castro, Rafael Lapesa, Ramón Menéndez Pidal, Antonio de Nebrija...? Support the May merge proposal. Just as Medievalist redirects to Medieval studies, so too can Hispanist and Hispanism be discussed on the same page. The topics are not identical but the hispanism page provides better context when discussing histpanists. The pages are also sufficiently short that the combined length will not be problematic.
