What unit of Dutch police forces (I know (almost) for certain not the military) (could be Special Intervention units, but I've only seen foto's of them using MP5's and P90's) uses the G36, and which source was used?
The G36 picture shows a Marui G36C airsoft gun, not the real gun. Just have a look at the fire selector or a the bullet magazine... Guerric
I removed the bit mentioning the reciprocating parts move on steel rails inside the receiver. The receiver is steel reinforced, but the bolt carrier does not ride on any steel, only plastic or more specifically, nylon 66. I have an HK SL8-1 and a G36K parts kit I can verify this with if questioned.
It says early in the article "After a prolonged investigation, the German defense ministry decided to phase out the rifle, with minister of defense Ursula von der Leyen declaring the weapon "useless" " Should this be changed slightly, as although she called it 'useless' from what I have seen from firearm experts, who know more that von der Leyen does, and we know the German government don't like HK and the G-36 met the German requirement. Check out Forgotten Weapons channel on YouTube. Does the opening of the article suggest, without evidence, that the G-36 is useless? I think it does. It is right to mention von der Leyen's political view, and right to mention it had issues in the heat. But that is not the same as saying it is 'useless'. Chwyatt ( talk) 11:20, 27 March 2021 (UTC)
The article currently has a mixture of spellings, which isn't ideal. Based on this early revision, it appears that it was written in (mostly) British English. According to MOS:RETAIN, I think it should standardise on that spelling variant. Does anyone disagree? 84.65.59.217 ( talk) 16:56, 28 February 2024 (UTC)
