The detail that this article describes pushes it to the 57th volume; Yagi's fishing expertise, Takamura's fight with Eagle but not the results, etc.
I'd say cut it back to a basic synopsis of the characters. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 67.175.147.35 ( talk) 09:15, January 4, 2006 (UTC)
I agree, or at least a spoiler tag should be added to the character section. —Preceding

yeah,i need help of what category of fair use the images qualify, sorry about the confusion,i got all the images from here http://www.shonenmagazine.com/works/ippo/character/character.html is the website for the magazine where the manga is published.i hope that helps...... In an attempt to clean up the page some, I propose that the "Characters" list should be altered some. Mainly taking some of the Gyms with only one character out and moving those characters to the "Other gyms" section. Of those gyms with only one character, any character that only had one fight featured in the story, should be moved. The characters that come to mind are, Kenta Kobashi, Iwao Shimabukuro, & Keiichi Take. Any thoughts? Guyinblack25 03:08, 18 December 2006 (UTC)
Just had an idea that I thought I would throw out to anybody that actually reads the discussion page. What would everybody think about splitting the Fighting Spirit page into two separate pages. The second page would be a "List of characters from Fighting Spirit" and comprise mostly the character section on the current Fighting Spirit page. The character section would still remain on the main article, but in a much more condensed version and only include the main characters of the series, possibly some notable minor characters that are important to the plot.
Excessive character detail has been a slight problem in the past with this article and moving the characters to their own page would alleviate this. Along the individual character pages, this should allow users to add the details they feel are worth including.
So what are everyone's thoughts? And if you agree with the idea, which characters do you think should be kept in the main article? ( Guyinblack25 21:22, 29 January 2007 (UTC))
Miyata's inclusion strikes me as odd, while he's significant to Ippo's story, he only shows up like once every 5 volumes or so these days. He hasn't really been a main character ever since the end of the Rookie King tournament, which was literally over a decade ago in real world time. I think he should be removed from 'Main Characters', and Takamura, Aoki, Kimura, and Itagaki should be put into 'Main Characters'. They're in almomst every chapter, and most of their fights get focus. They certainly qualify as Main Characters as far as I'm concerned. Kuwabaratheman 21:08, 20 February 2007 (UTC)
The article was recently moved to "Hajime no ippo". I have just reverted those edits and hoped that the topic could be discussed here. I personally don't think it needs to be moved, but am open to moving it if there is a reason to. Any thoughts? ( Guyinblack25 19:21, 22 June 2007 (UTC))
After looking at the " Media information" in the "Sections" portion of the Anime and manga project, I thought I'd propose splitting most of the information in the "Media" section of the article into its own separate article, much like the List of Excel Saga media article. At the very least, I think the episodes should be split off into its own article. Any thoughts? ( Guyinblack25 18:51, 2 July 2007 (UTC))
After a long time without reading the hajime no ippo article, i discover that most of the info was deleted. Where are all the interesting synopsis about the non-main-character boxers? even really important characters like Eiji Date and Ricardo Martinez were left aside. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 201.166.54.146 ( talk • contribs) 05:39, July 8, 2007
I understand WP:MOS-AM asks for "official English titles for article names" and that the TV series has been released as Fighting Spirit... but as the Hajime no Ippo manga still hasn't been released in English speaking countries, shouldn't the article be named Hajime no Ippo? According to the manual of style, articles should be about the first format, not the most popular (nor the one released in the US).-- Nohansen 16:39, 17 September 2007 (UTC)
Can someone track down or find some informations why the series was cancelled or episodes were "postponed" ? I think thats pertinent to the article Sendo 09 ( talk) 18:19, 4 May 2008 (UTC)
The article is about the manga, so why is the page titled Fighting Spirit? To my understanding the manga has not been published in english under that title, only the anime has been. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 85.217.20.176 ( talk) 19:32, 20 May 2008 (UTC)
If it hasn't been released in English speaking countries then the manga is called Hajime No Ippo. This title exists no where and was made up by a vandal and somehow has stayed this way. I will move it in 3 days if nobody responds to this. Gune ( talk) 07:44, 1 March 2009 (UTC)
The article provides abundant information, which is good, but please remove some crucial spoilers such as the fight records of the characters, at least in this main page. I can understand if you leave the spoilers in the character specific page that follows:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Fighting_Spirit_characters
All I wanted to do was to learn to which manga chapters the 76 episodes of season 1 and 2 movies correspond to, so I can gauge how long season 2 might possibly last as the anime derives its content from the manga.
But just by hitting page up/page down, I saw that Ippo's record was 22-1, so it's obvious that he will win ALL of his fights in season 2 and beyond. That's a huge spoiler that takes away from the pleasure of following one of the best anime ever made.
I don't see why you need to include his record in the main page in the first place. You could have just made a summary of each character's personalities, motivations and fighting style. —Preceding unsigned comment added by AngrySendoSupporter ( talk • contribs) 06:37, 22 January 2009 (UTC)
Wikipedia is not spoiler free. If you get spoiled about something then it's your own damn fault for reading the articles. Gune ( talk) 07:46, 1 March 2009 (UTC)
I've never really stumbled upon any notes regarding this, but the main character in Mike Tyson's punch out is named Mac and strikingly similar. Is the character of Ippo meant to model this character? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 65.244.227.194 ( talk) 22:15, 13 February 2009 (UTC)
In the anime, they sometimes mention real life boxers like Thomas Hearns or Mike Tyson along with a animated still of that boxer. I was wondering if anyone had a list of the real life boxers they mention in the anime and a list of each of those boxers who had animated stills. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 68.205.4.213 ( talk) 04:34, August 22, 2006 (UTC)
I've been trying to find additional info on Volg Zangief on his stay in America but the manga is just too long and it really doesn't tell you where to get such info. He's one of my fave characters in the manga & i just wanna learn more about his endeavours/fights. Can someone pls help me? I'd really appreciate it! And I'm really sorry if i didn't post this question right... Storm7 ( talk) 08:41, 22 March 2009 (UTC)
Is there a reason you can't have a picture of each main character next to their image? If a character has their own page, they have a picture of themselves, so why isn't a list of characters allowed to have a small picture of each character next to their name? I thought it really added to the article. Dream Focus 17:03, 31 March 2009 (UTC)
I noticed that this was previously mentioned, but there was no discussion or separate article created. After looking at the Naruto Wikipedia article, it would also make sense to move the anime episode lists into its own separate article. Any comments or thoughts on this? If none, I am going to be working on creating that separate article then. TanvirAlam2 ( talk) 19:02, 10 June 2009 (UTC)
Do it if you want to. Just don't make separate entries for Hajime no Ippo and New Challenger. I think we need to do something about the article name though. Gune ( talk) 10:36, 25 June 2009 (UTC)
