It was proposed to move the article to Gruoch of Scotland as per Wiki naming conventions for former royal spouses Mowens35 20:31, 26 Apr 2005 (UTC)
Propose compromise heading of Queen Gruoch of Scotland
I am aware of the naming convention for monarchs, but could you point me in the direction of any naming convention for queens consort? It would certainly be helpful to have one, but I envisage all sorts of problems e.g. Scotland had 1 queen regnant and at least 3 queens consort called Margaret, how do you distinguish them? I have looked at the article for Queen Consort for some guidance on the appropriate convention. If I understand this correctly we should refer to her as Gruoch of Moray or Gruoch nin Bodhe (Gaelic for Gruoch daughter of Bodhe) since this might be how she was know before she became queen. It does appear to be convention not to use "queen" in the title, I think "Gruoch of Scotland" is the best trade-off. We need to consider how to avoid ambiguity on e.g. Margaret of Denmark or Margaret Tudor, we may need to add "Queen of Scotland" in brackets after this. PatGallacher 19:11, 2005 Jun 10 (UTC)
Maybe this is a stupid question, but how is the name Gruoch pronounced? -- MidnightSoldier ( talk) 02:08, 17 November 2008 (UTC)
