Its past midnight and I've heard some reports of the Greek Theater getting torched - any confirmation? Snusinow 07:53, 9 May 2007 (UTC)
...despite the efforts of nearly 150 fire fighters, five helicopters and a water taker.[4]
Do you mean water TANKER? I checked out the reference link but I see nothing about helicopters or water tankers, else I would have fixed it myself. You sure thats correct? 5 helicopters and 1 tanker are very specific numbers. Kinda odd 68.82.241.63
Does information about the fire really belong in Wikipedia under this article heading? It seems more like it should go under WikiNews. There have been other, worse fires in the Griffith Park area in the past, and the reason you don't see those listed here is because they're not really important in the larger scope of things. I suggest that after a few days, this section gets pared down to a couple of sentences, if not deleted outright. Kevinmooney 16:16, 9 May 2007 (UTC)
I was wondering, since it is hard to locate on Google Earth, where exactly within the part was Salute Your Shorts filmed, and are any structures stil standing, like the buildings used for the cabins and lodge, and not razed, or burned in the recent (or any past) fires? —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Travelsonic ( talk • contribs) 04:31, 15 May 2007 (UTC).
Why is the main picture of the park ostensibly on fire??? This is not a good initial impression. Brancron ( talk) 01:24, 22 September 2008 (UTC)Brancron
where is Old Griffith Park Zoo? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 99.176.61.162 ( talk) 20:09, 5 February 2010 (UTC)
Consider using some information from this article? I'm the author of it, so it wouldn't be appropriate for me to do it. "Public Geology at Griffith Park in Los Angeles: A Sample Teachers’ Guide" escholarship.org/uc/item/01m2d0cx
This is the most relevant section for geology in my opinion. It would have to be paraphrased to avoid copyright infringement: "The area of Griffith Park is composed of fifteen different rock formations. The majority of the exposures are Neogene and Quaternary marine and non-marine sedimentary rock. The Lower, Middle and Upper Topanga formations are well-exposed, as are the Monterey and Fernando Formations. Inclined bedding is obvious throughout the park, and fossils are sometimes present. Late Miocene intrusive rock is also quite common in the park. Major contacts are sometimes well-characterized as obvious faults. Much of the granitic rock is friable and weathered. Dikes are present, as well, and some are extrusive, with purple and grey andesites being the most common of this class."
Some other areas of the journal article may be relevant to the wikipedia page as well. Thanks! Daniel Helman ( talk) 17:12, 2 January 2017 (UTC)
