Why is the grid system related to feng shui?— Gniw (Wing) 16:47, 12 December 2005 (UTC).
It is hard to say why it has taken so many years for web developers to become interested in something that has been essential to the written medium in general since the 30s.
And it's actually pretty easy to say why it has taken so many years - designing with grids with CSS/HTML just IS a bit more difficult than using InDesign... 77.246.198.145 ( talk) 20:55, 27 October 2010 (UTC) 203.177.84.145 ( talk) 00:53, 10 December 2009 (UTC)
Why not drop this paragraph entirely? The term "page" in context of the web is meant metaphorically for the content of a html file in a browser window, and not for a printed piece of paper of a specific size. It's not exactly apples and oranges, but IMHO the specifications for both kinds of layout are to different for a direct comparison. The only sensible way of incorporating web design into this article would be a short overview over the possibilities of a grid based layout in HTML, Flash etc, and possible restrictions - not a biased discussion of either "web designers are way behind" or "not our fault, it's the software" ... -- JBirken ( talk) 19:39, 7 January 2011 (UTC)
Both hands for dropping or rewriting the paragraph. It'd be better to write about grid usage in popular frameworks like Blueprint or how to use it with popular design software rather than producing badly camouflaged insults against web developers. Yes, grids are not around very long, but aren't there beautiful and well-thought layouts made without them? Of course there are. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 92.127.33.19 ( talk) 06:48, 10 January 2011 (UTC)
There is NO description of a typographic grid and how it works, which should be the essential content of this entry. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 87.218.233.156 ( talk) 06:34, 6 October 2010 (UTC)
Before the invention of movable type a based on optimal proportions had been used to arrange handwritten text on pages.
Sentence is missing a subject. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Johnbro27 ( talk • contribs) 14:39, 13 August 2014 (UTC)
