Question. Is Chittagong really the only town which has a school called Govt. Muslim High School? In older books it seems the same phrase is used for
Muslim Government High School, Dhaka.

Answer: Yes, there are only one government school in Chittagong has this name. FYI, see official name on the official website via
Head Teacher's message. And feel free to ask any question.

oppose The abbreviation Govt. is likely used in the logo because of the limited space available and the desire to keep the lettering large enough to read. Wikipedia does not suffer the same space limitations. The head teacher, in their message, first uses the full, unabbreviated name of the school, and then uses the abbreviation the second time it is mentioned. Also note on the school website that the page title and banner at the top use the full name without abbreviation. Finally, none of the cited sources abbreviate the word government. --

Oppose. We generally expand abbreviations. These abbreviations are commonly used in South Asia, but they are not really encyclopaedic. --
