It's quite unprobable that "goure" is an Ottoman Turkish word, since it violates Turkish phonology rules, i.e. it is unpronounceable. There is a word "gure" which means "unripe grape" or "unripe date", and a word "gureba" meaning "stranger", both with low frequency of usage, and both apparently of Persian origin (I'm not sure about "gure though). - The article was probably referring to giaour, but as far as I can tell, that is unrelated to 'gora'. -- macrakis ( talk) 14:46, 30 December 2009 (UTC)
Reviewing the citations for this including the ones on the past version of this article here, I find no evidence this is a slur, so it has been removed from List of ethnic slurs.
