This has to have 1500 characters at least to get on did you know ... the material is there.... yiu have about 2-3 days.... look at other villages to see how it should look. Victuallers ( talk) 22:49, 17 January 2008 (UTC)
If anyone watching (or just peeking in on, given the current mainpage DYK) this article knows of any good references for the article, I'd appreciate your posting them here, or simply expanding the article based upon them. I'm looking at doing some even more significant expansion of this article at some point, and it would be nice to have a couple more references to use when doing so. I could do the additional expansion based upon the current refs, but I'd prefer to have more. Thanks -- Bellwether B C 15:54, 21 January 2008 (UTC)
There's no explanation in this article as to why exactly the community was considered an "embarassment" by city leaders. Was it run down? Considered a slum by contemporary standards? What happened to the inhabitants? Were land owners recompensated? -- Jfruh ( talk) 19:44, 21 January 2008 (UTC)
It's a collage, and it's featured on the main page. Do not delete it unilaterally. -- Bellwether B C 20:04, 21 January 2008 (UTC)
Ha Jin's novel was set in China during the Cultural Revolution, not in Canada. It's merely coincidental that he used the name of Goose Village for the fictional place where his protagonist's first wife lived while he served as a doctor in the People's Liberation Army in a city some distance away. It's a good book and worth reading, but it really has nothing to do with the subject of this article.-- Fishnoise ( talk) 20:37, 21 January 2008 (UTC)
Sorry, Ha Jin's novel may have been partially set in a Goose Village, but it certainly wasn't the Canadian one. Please, just read the novel and you'll see it has nothing to do with anything Canadian and everything to do with China. Note too, the protagonist doesn't even meet the woman he is "waiting" for until 1964--which was the year you assert the subject of the article was bulldozed. How could he go back to Goose Village to try to divorce his wife every year for the next two decades if the town was gone by then?-- 139.55.66.1 ( talk) 21:07, 21 January 2008 (UTC)
As per WP:CANSTYLE#Neighbourhoods, this article should be moved to Victoriatown, Montreal. In accordance with the guideline, however, the move is first being raised on the talk page. -- Skeezix1000 ( talk) 20:49, 19 March 2008 (UTC)
The above move was done, by me, but given admin Bearcat's comment here, I see that we have the right to make Goose Village, Montreal, the name of the article. The Gazette story cited in the article backs up my own experience as a Montrealer, which is that no one really called it Victoriatown. Any objections? thanks, Shawn in Montreal ( talk) 16:42, 23 March 2008 (UTC)
The last graph about Fennario seems irrelevant.-- Megaforcemedia ( talk) 20:04, 28 April 2008 (UTC)
