Scarce/rare?

Is there a difference between scarce and rare? Ericoides ( talk) 21:24, 8 December 2011 (UTC) reply

As I understand it "nationally scarce" and "nationally rare" are both official designations given by the Joint Nature Conservation Committee and Natural England (or other national body), where rare species are less common that scarce species. This is outlined (with quantities) at the JNCC website here. Zangar ( talk) 20:26, 9 December 2011 (UTC) reply
Thanks Zangar, that's just what I was looking for. Ericoides ( talk) 06:22, 10 December 2011 (UTC) reply
