I always thought the G was silent too, but I remember hearing not so long ago that (supposedly) the G *was* meant to be pronounced. This makes me suspicious enough of the claim in the article that the "G" is silent.
We need a reference, but preferably one with some authority (e.g. DC Thompson) - since I'm sure there are many web pages out there whose owners "know" that it's meant to be pronounced one way or another based on what they thought was right when they were a kid. :-) Fourohfour 16:20, 22 December 2006 (UTC)
I think it's possible to say that it is silent by referring to the TV series 'Dennis and Gnasher', in which Dennis clearly pronounces the name as if it were "nasher" TheDingbat 12:11, 13 February 2007 (UTC)
Still says The G on the beginning of both their names is pronounced silently. citation needed TheDingbat is right, the TV show is a reliable source, can I remove the citation needed tag? Digifiend ( talk) 12:22, 28 May 2008 (UTC)
It would seem Gnasher and Gnipper has been dropped, it's been absent for two months now. Move it to the past strips category? It was replaced by an extra Dennis and Gnasher strip. Digifiend ( talk) —Preceding comment was added at 12:48, 26 March 2008 (UTC)
I would, but I don't know how, as it isn't actually part of the article, it's the category box that appears at the bottom of all Beano related articles. Digifiend ( talk) 08:50, 3 April 2008 (UTC)
I was talking about the category box at the bottom of the page. The list you linked to doesn't seperate past and present, so is OK. However, the infobox would seem to need changing too. There's only been one Gnasher and Gnipper strip in the weekly Beano since January! Digifiend ( talk) 12:18, 28 May 2008 (UTC)
The result of the move request was: page moved. fish& karate 10:45, 3 October 2011 (UTC)
