National hero?
It's what the first book i cited said. Miller claims Sinclair became a Norwegian national hero: http://www.amazon.co.uk/Swords-Hire-Mercenary-James-Miller/dp/1841584460 —Preceding unsigned comment added by Nick19thind ( talk • contribs)
George Sinclair is not considered a national hero in norway. I'm norwegian and this concflicts with everything i've read and heard about this event. The national "heroes" are the farmers from gudbrandsdalen who massacred the scotsmen. This is evident in the song "sinclairvisa", which is ahistorical, but reflects norwegian sentiments about this event. The battle at Kringen was important in building a norwegian identity after the breach with Denmark in 1814. Bookish sources or not, this should be corrected! -- Oggbogg2 ( talk) 22:21, 13 April 2009 (UTC)
