I've only ever seen one photo of the man, and it's this one: [1] His face isn't visible, unfortunately, but the skirt at least is. In any case, I think it should be public domain due to its age.
I don't see any reason to keep this - it is a less-detailed version of the other page. Eran of Arcadia 13:06, 9 July 2007 (UTC)
The text states that he collided with a liberty ship apparently between 1901 & 1905. Liberty ships were not produced until 1942. I guess that this should read merchant or cargo ship. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 86.112.52.178 ( talk) 19:52, 26 July 2010 (UTC)
Congratulations on making it to today's listing on the "Did You Know..." section of Wikipedia Main Page. The process of making it the listing takes a bit of effort and involves the quick cooperation of many editors. All involved deserve recognition, appreciation, thanks and applause.
Though the man was granted the acting rank of Captain during some of his time on the Lake, he was never promoted to this rank and indeed his service record explicitly notes that he was denied a bump in rank (Commander -> Captain) upon his retirement. He should, I feel, be marked as a Commander. DulcetTone ( talk) 16:03, 27 January 2020 (UTC)
