Gayhurst House is an important country house. It is a Grade 2 listed building and merits mention in Pevsner. Its importance lies firstly in its owners, including Sir Everard Digby, the Gunpowder Plot conspirator, Sir Kenelm Digby, the diplomat and philosopher and Sir Francis Drake (reputedly). Secondly, it has significance in landscaping history, in that the park was originally laid out by Capability Brown and remodelled by Humphrey Repton. Lastly, and in my view most crucialy, it is important as a major work by William Burges, of which there are sadly few. If you reference the Wikipedia page on William Burges, you will see that the article on Gayhurst House is a contribution to the "List of Works" which I have created, and which I continue to work on.
I had only just begun the article, indeed, was in the process of starting it, when I received the speedy deletion notice, which I think somewhat premature. In passing, I would say that such an abrupt response may discourage contributors from writing articles. If I have breached Wikipedia protocols by "creating" the article directly into Wikipedia rather than in my sandbox, I apologise but I only have a limited knowledge of Wikipedia rules.
In summary, I do not agree that the subject of the article is not notable. I fully agree that the article as it stands is woefully inadequate and will work on this if the article is retained.

Does nobody have a better picture of this building? The article greatly needs one. KJP1 ( talk) 14:57, 10 June 2012 (UTC)
