Why was the original content for Garment District deleted and then forwarded to Garment District, Manhattan? This was also done without any type of notes or talk. The original content was not done by me and appears lost forever. Sad.
the garment district is in NYC. No ifs, ands, or buts. this is advertising and crap. Kitten b ( talk) 01:37, 20 February 2008 (UTC) kitten b

Last year there was another user created entry on Garment District that was blown away at some unknown time. At that time there was no reference I could find in Wikipedia to garment district, manhattan or the equivilent. When I came back to look at that page approx. two months ago all references to Garment District (store) had been removed and replace with garment district, manhattan. In addition all similar words in search sent you to garment district, manhattan and ignored any other usage of the word. Because its a popular place in Boston I tried to put up a page to represent The Garment District. The page I created tried to recreate the page I remember seeing to the best of my ability. I did web searches & used content & cross links that I could find. I used as many references as I could. Perhaps I could have done better. I'm happy to re-edit it to make it better. Or if I didn't do a good enough job please edit it to meet the standards that someone feels I'm lacking. I thought I did my best to help out the wikipedia community.
Perhaps the reference "garment district" may seem to refer to manhattan to someone based in some parts of the USA - but in other parts of the USA or the world the words garment district mean different things. As is clear by the multiple Garment District pages on Wikipedia - pages that refer to the Garment District in Los Angeles, Kansas City, and Lima. I feel it is only fair & reasonable that both references to the store in Massachusetts and the region in NYC and elsewhere both be represented on Wikipedia. Removing the page and making any search of garment district head to garment district, manhattan does not serve the public good. It would seem to me that the present situation where there is a listing page in-between showing all of the references to garment district is a good solution. Hopefully those continuing to introduce a forwarding page to only garment district, manhattan will refrain from doing so in the future.
I ask that the Garment District (store) page is not removed. Thanks.
This page is redundant with The Garment District; obviously the two articles should be combined under one title or the other. Some paragraphs are exact duplicates between the two versions of the article; but on the whole, this one has more detail and references, but the other one is neater and written in a more encyclopedic style.
