галифе : searched around ant it seems that the russian word галифе (named after Gaston Alexandre Auguste, Marquis de Galliffet) is commonly used synonymously with " riding breeches". On the the other hands, in the internets "Galliffet" is commonly used in various places which display or sell Soviet military uniform. Also there is a historical anecdote circulating the internets about how Galliffet invented the pants. Mostly in Russian, but penetrated other languages as well. The copycats of this fake story are easily identifiable by a non-existing French "general Kovenqyur" or similar, transliterated from Russian "Ковенкюр", equally fake "french surname".
