1. The picture for this article does not show full contact Karate but Olympic style Tai Kwoon Do.
2."The blows are delivered with full contact, although heavy padding is often worn and in some cases body armour is also worn" - This describes Korean Tai Kwon Do original full contact styles like Kyokushin Karate spar with limited or no protective gear. This article needs to be reworked.
--- Agreed. Both pictures and quote referenced above are in line with TKD, not full contact karate.
Hi, having been involved in kyokushin in japan, my recollection is that strikes with elbows were not allowed. Has the situation recently changed? If not, then the article needs to be corrected. The Kasparov of Sheshbesh 08:47, 9 October 2006 (UTC)
This is a good start for a full-contact article, but I think you should change "was pioneered by kyokushin" to "was popularized by kyokushin" or "full-contact sport karate was pioneered by kyokushin".
First, it's kind of hard to say that any style "originated" full-contact karate since most karate styles at least used to be full-contact.
Second, kyokushin is relatively new compared to the Okinawan styles which are still full-contact. Just my two cents.

How come the infobox is regarding American Kickboxing? TheIncredibleNix ( talk) 20:25, 17 January 2009 (UTC)
There is a distinct lack of pictures in the article. We need good, copyright free/public domain, pictures for as many of the different competition formats as possible.
This article is currently rated as "stub" rated (which is bad), but has been significantly reworked and expanded since it received that rating. How do we go about getting the quality rate "refreshed"?
