Hello, my name is Kim, and I work at MSL, a PR agency representing paints and performance coatings company Akzo Nobel. I am working closely with Akzo Nobel scientists and experts in the field to clarify the benefits and uses of friction modifiers within the chemistry and technology communities, and I would like to propose additions to this page:
• Within the first paragraph, add the following line to the end of the paragraph:
“In some cases, they are needed to increase friction such as in transmission systems [1].”
• After the third paragraph, insert a new paragraph:
“Fatty amines have been used for a number of years as OFMs [2]. These are traditionally derived from Tallow or Oleic_acid sources which are converted to nitriles and then reduced to primary, secondary or tertiary amines. The driving interest in OFM’s such as fatty amines is that they help lower the SAPS (sulphated ash & phosphorous) emissions [3] from car exhaust increasing the life [4] of after treatment emission systems and reducing engine deposit formation.”
• Within the existing fourth paragraph beginning with “organo-molybdenum compounds…” add the following sentence to the end of that paragraph:
Synergistic effects are seen between organo-molybdenum and fatty amine OFM [5].
