This article contains a translation of Armée de terre (France) from fr.wikipedia. |
article needs expansion. there is not much in the way of the french army other than a list of current units (which should be a separate article?). compare with the british army article which is good-- 203.218.92.126 02:46, 2 September 2006 (UTC)
I removed the image Image:Armee de Terre organigramme.png from the article, as it contains to many errors. i.e.:
There are many, many more errors and clearly the graphic is anything but the actual structure of the French Army. What surprises me is that there is a complete and current (2007) listing of all units of the French Army and a correct graphic (except for the materials bases and support centres) in the article Structure of the French Army, to which this article links. Even the French, Italian and German wikipedia articles are correct and up to date. Therefore I removed the graphic and suggest a major update and correction of it. -- noclador 23:49, 15 June 2007 (UTC)
The ERC-90 and the AMX-10 RC are listed here as light tanks. Neither is tracked, and so really don't qualify as tanks. Should "Light Tank" be changed to Armoured Car? Good Skoda ( talk) 20:40, 13 August 2009 (UTC)
Although the 10RC is wheeled its front wheels can't turn, and is therefore driven like a tank. Overall, it is probably not so easy to classify them in either categories as they are more like hybrids between an armoured car and a tank. Also, but I don't have reference, when the 10RC was designed, there was a lot of discussion amongst French military, whether it should be tracked or wheeled. It's function is also hybrid, as it is an armoured reconnaissance vehicle and therefore could qualify as an armoured car but also that of a tank but with very poor protection favouring speed and agility to heavy armour. Didnt see a mention if the Vichy French goverment had an "Army"(They did have a Navy I know) Was this the Milice? Should it be mentioned in article? Merci',Thanks! (datedAfeternoon,Mn.Sept.21,2009,21stcent,by Dr. Edson Andre' Johnson D.D.ULC>) ANDREMOI ( talk) 22:03, 21 September 2009 (UTC)

I would just like to say that the British Army is in fact larger than the French army. This means that whoever keeps changing the facts to "the French army is the largest in the EU" is wrong. Please don't if you're doing that. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 86.169.201.4 ( talk) 01:35, 28 October 2010 (UTC)
The British army employs 113 thousand regular soldiers. It also employs a further 167 thousand soldiers, who have been trained to a professional standard. These men are soldiers too, and should be counted.

There are a problem.
In this article, we can see that the French army is the second largest in the European Union and the 4th largest in NATO. But in the article of the British army we can see that there is the second largest in the European Union and the 4th largest in NATO too.

The Uniform section currently has information about uniforms of the Republican Guard. It is already in the equivalent section of the National Gendarmerie article so, it should be removed from this article. -- Dreddmoto ( talk) 01:05, 12 May 2022 (UTC)
