There needs to be a section about the administrative roles and functions of freguesias, specifically the competencies of the Junta de Freguesia and Assembleia de Freguesia of a municipalities. Do freguesias have any legal authority to carry out administration functions or are they simply advisory bodies to the municipalities? -- Criticalthinker ( talk) 01:34, 28 February 2019 (UTC)
The result of the move request was: Not moved. Per Privybst, with cultures around the world, it is hard or impossible to avoid loanwords for types of administrative divisions around the world. For the country name as a disambiguator concern made by Laurel Lodged, it is mostly used to disambiguate similar or same names of other administrative divisions, such as Oblasts of Ukraine and Oblasts of Russia. I can see a possible move from Freguesia to Freguesias of Portugal in the future. As far as I am aware of, Freguesias mostly address Portuguese or formerly Portuguese administrative divisions. Freguesia → Civil parishes in Portugal – This is the English-language Wiki. Readers cannot be expected to know Portuguese. "Civil parish" is the usual translation. See also Civil parishes in Ireland. Laurel Lodged ( talk) 16:27, 23 September 2022 (UTC)
