In 1891, the New York Times reported that Lord Stanley of Preston had been appointed in 1888 Governor General of Canada and Commander in Chief of Prince Edward's Island. [1] This could have been an error, but it might point to an anomaly which existed before 1904?
I wonder if this suggests a plausible question worth investigating further? -- Tenmei ( talk) 12:50, 6 October 2008 (UTC)
