I don't have the original research on this admiral, but for anyone who does and wishes to add it, some more personal information could be added. Family life and childhood is appropriate even though it is not what makes him notable. Also, some more references could be added, such as to his biography (which is somewhat made, albeit hidden to someone reading but not editing, and does not state even the name of the book or the author). One small change that could be made is to add the middle initial. I knew him as F."L." (Skip) Bowman. Also, his command of SSN-705 was the first operational one for the City of Corpus Christi as he took just after it left the yards at Groton, CT. One story I remember (that isn't classified anyway) is that he canvassed the Commanders at Sub Base New London to find out when the fog is worst in the area, given that New England is famous for pea soup fog. After he had asked a good handful, every one said a different month of the year! kanaugle 7/31/07
So - it happens that I know Admiral Bowman (yeah, this is part shameless name-dropping...also shameless fellow-Duke-alum-dropping); is family information appropriate on these pages? I guess I haven't really seen that much... There is other info I will be putting up as time goes by, but I wasn't sure about that. Thanks! DukeEgr93 02:47, 11 July 2006 (UTC)
