"Prior to construction by the WMATA, Franconia鈥揝pringfield station was the site of Franconia Station, a standard railroad station built by the Richmond, Fredericksburg and Potomac Railroad. Amtrak appears to have dropped Franconia-Springfield. I can't find a good source, but it no longer shows up as a bookable option and it's not on the Spring/Summer 2010 timetable. Mackensen (talk) 21:51, 7 September 2010 (UTC)
It's weird that there's no announcement from Amtrak about the dropped service. There's a good discussion on the Amtrak Unlimited forum but nothing we could cite. Mackensen (talk) 21:29, 13 September 2010 (UTC)
( edit conflict)(Really)Amtrak still has a page for Franconia Springfield, and this (Large PDF) says that Amtrak got stimulus funds and recently makde changes at that station. As for the old stations, It appears that the RF&P Built a station they called Franconia near the metro stop in 1870 and discontinued service and tore the station down in 1952 (See this and this) Fiftytwo thirty ( talk) 21:30, 13 September 2010 (UTC)
The issue of if and when Amtrak dropped service at Franconia-Springfield still remains unanswered. If nobody has considered doing so themselves, I might even go so far as to calling Amtrak on the phone and asking them about this. ---- DanTD ( talk) 14:42, 16 September 2010 (UTC)
Okay, this is getting odd; I just found out that Amtrak's pamphlet still lists Franconia-Springfield as of May 10, 2010( http://www.amtrak.com/servlet/BlobServer?blobcol=urldata&blobtable=MungoBlobs&blobkey=id&blobwhere=1249213945162&blobheader=application%2Fpdf&blobheadername1=Content-disposition&blobheadervalue1=attachment;filename=Amtrak_T04.pdf), as a stop for the Carolinian, but they don't have it on their list of stations for the Carolinain/Piedmont, nor the rest of the Silver Service/Palmetto, despite still having a page for the station. I'm getting irritated by this. Nobody has given me any answers. ---- DanTD ( talk) 03:11, 5 October 2010 (UTC)
TrainWeb is now claiming Amtrak service was eliminaed on May 10, 2010. I'd like to know where the webmaster of that site got the info. ---- DanTD ( talk) 12:07, 24 February 2011 (UTC)
The result of the move request was: moved. Number 5 7 16:40, 6 February 2015 (UTC)
鈥 Following the move of the Green Line stations per the new WP:USSTATION guideline, these stations should have WP:NATURAL disambiguation (and eventually, consistency within the whole system). I think consensus there can be interpreted as a mandate to move them all, but for now, I thought this would be helpful for more pairs of eyes to check for possible naming conflicts. -- BDD ( talk) 19:01, 23 December 2014 (UTC)
