Information on Cardinal Arinze's education always seems somewhat sketchy. Was he granted degrees at the institutions he attended? If so, what are they? Where was his research focused? Has he published any scholarly work related to liturgy? If so, where? Does he, like nearly all of his brother Cardinals, have a doctorate?
Even his biography on the official Vatican website has scant details of his education, and does not state any specific degrees that he has earned.
His Eminence has many degrees: he graduated from the seminary with a degree in philosophy; at the Pontifical Urban University, he obtained a degree in theology, followed by a licentiate and ultimately a doctorate in sacred theology, which he earned summa cum laude.
Any sources for the above information? Most bios say "he took courses" but none seem to discuss his degrees or whether he acutally earned the STD (graduated)--which of course is not nearly the same as a PhD--but perhaps he has one of those as well? Why does the Vatican bio leave all this out? Fishy. 172.190.146.26 06:52, 12 September 2007 (UTC)
