Source: The Forty Saints Monastery Rediscovered p. 42: Although much of the superstructure of the basilica has long been demolished, pilgrims continue to place flowers in discrete niches within the shattered building. Hi, I came by to promote this, but there is substantial copying from several sources. Here is just a sample from
Bowden: - Source: Externally it was a rectangular building with a single apse, exo-narthex, eso-narthex and two small external towers. The interior was articulated by six apsidal chambers
- Article: The main church was a rectangular building with a single apse, exo-narthex, eso-narthex and two small external towers. The interior was articulated by six apsidal chambers.
- Source: The pilasters that divide the chambers demonstrate that it was probably roofed with a series of domes and half domes. The western half of the building covers a substantial crypt

- Still seeing some minor close paraphrasing persisting - for example "it still possesses religious importance for the local Greek Orthodox population" vs "it still possesses an importance for the Greek Orthodox communities".
