Can someone lead me to pics of what it looks like now? The only images I can seem to find are artwork of the battles. Hanz ofbyotch ( talk) 21:03, 11 July 2008 (UTC)
I've divided this into sections and re-arranged the content a bit, but it should all still be there. Does anyone know what the current situation is? I thought I saw somewhere the site was being built on. Xyl 54 ( talk) 13:20, 5 December 2008 (UTC)
I’ve moved a large chunk of text to here; it’s in the wrong place (it should be at Second Battle of Fort Wagner) but I’m not even sure if it should be included anywhere. See discussion here on the subject. Xyl 54 ( talk) 12:58, 5 January 2009 (UTC)
The regiment that fought in the battle of Fort Wagner is the 54'th regiment. The 54'th regiment was the first African-American regiment in the war. This regiment also fought for the union but was still a heated discution among the North. Many people were open to the idea of free African-Americans but not the idea of rights for all.
This battle prooved to the north that all races have the same spirit and pride of their country on the battle field.
At the end of the battle the south burried the caucation general with his army (the 54'th regiment) because they viewed this as an insult. But instead the general's parents thanked the south for doing so. As thoughtfully shown in the movie Glory.
I have removed this since it has no place in the article. The article is for facts, not opinions on the treatments of blacks leading up to the present day.
