Where exactly?

"They established temporary encampments in the forks region that later became Winnipeg." Since where the Assiniboine River joins the Red River is not really a "fork" (or "forks region"), but is called The Forks, and since Winnipeg is significantly larger now ("later") than "The Forks" (region), would there be any problem with capitalizing The Forks in the text? -- Richardson mcphillips ( talk) 18:59, 16 February 2015 (UTC) reply
