The ARMAMENT section covers only through the end of WWII. Fletcher-class destroyers served into the 1970's with continued changes. The three twin 40mm mounts were eventually replaced by three twin 3"/50caliber mounts. No I don't have a acceptable citation from a "reliable" source -- I simply served aboard one of them. Hopefully someone can provide more complete information and a "reliable source" citation.
