Why were the following mass-deletions made? [1] [2] Should these be re-instated? - Pete C ✍ 21:50, 23 July 2005 (UTC)
I dont agree with deleting geography section I think it is good. For the record look at a map and you'll see that Cabra and Ashtown are due south and Glasnevin is southeast, and in-between places like Ballygall and Glasnevin North (Finglas East) dont exist and I know this because I work in An Post. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Dotsey ( talk • contribs) 13:56, 2 July 2010 (UTC)
A few weeks ago a number of unexplained reverts occurred. I raised with the relevant editor at the time. However, as I received no response I'm going to re-raise here before taking action. To my eye, these reversions introduced several dead and irrelevant links, and (re)introduced content which is not within the relevant guidelines. (Specifically the changes effectively created a business and clubs directory in the middle of the article.) As arbitrary directories (of services, sports clubs or whatever) are not recommended, and long lists of web links are outside the guidelines, I'm tempted to remove. Unless anyone has any other thoughts on this, I'm going to replace with prose (again). Guliolopez ( talk) 12:07, 16 September 2011 (UTC)
Why was William Rowan Hamiltons name removed from this page? He lived in Dunsink and Dunsink is afterall a part of Finglas. — Preceding text originally posted on Finglas by 137.191.227.58 ( talk⋅ contribs)
The claim, that Finglas is twinned with Canton, Massachusetts was added ( without explanation of reference or otherwise) by an anon in 2006. It has been tagged as uncited and problematic since 2018. In that time, I have gone looking for sources to support this statement. I can find none. The only thing I can find which is remotely in the same ballpark/wheelhouse is this 1991 report of a local Vocational Education Committee. This report (page 12) vaguely talks about a student exchange program called the "Finglas and Canton Exchange". In which there was apparently a student exchange program running for a few years. An agreement between schools or school boards doesn't sound like a "town twinning" arrangement to me. The website of the administration of the "Town of Canton" makes no mention of Finglas. And, when the Finglas Village Renewal Partnership reportedly proposed other town twinning arrangements a few years ago, none of the resulting news reports made any reference to any existing twinning agreements. Which, if there were any, I would imaging they probably would have. Anyway, unless this can be cited, I'm going to remove it. Guliolopez ( talk) 10:10, 29 May 2020 (UTC)
With the news out today about a cocaine "super cartel" getting busted in Dubai, the Netherlands, Belgium, Spain, etc, there were mentions of the Kinahan crime family, the Hutch crime family, and numerous other Irish criminals (many of them dead), and it seems that a lot of them come from Finglas or operated there. Is Finglas a tough/rough neighborhood? Poor? Crime ridden? The article is silent on any aspect of this. Thanks in advance to anybody who knows, and can insert this aspect with links.
