I check pages listed in Category:Pages with incorrect ref formatting to try to fix reference errors. One of the things I do is look for content for orphaned references in wikilinked articles. I have found content for some of Fear of Flying (The Simpsons)'s orphans, the problem is that I found more than one version. I can't determine which (if any) is correct for this article, so I am asking for a sentient editor to look it over and copy the correct ref content into this article.

There needs to be some acknowledgment of Erica Jong's pioneering feminist novel "Fear of Flying" as a cultural reference. Most of the joke of the episode was the repeated use of that phrase with a bit of verbal emphasis, including by Dr Zweig, and the fact the episode uses it literally where Jong had used it metaphorically. I was only in my mid-20s when this aired and 70s novels by or for women were hardly an interest of mine, but that one and its title were still a cultural touchstone of sufficient magnitude that I doubt any adult in North America in the 90s didn't get the joke.
