Farrakh Khan was born to a Bhatti Muslim Rajput family from Hasan Abdal in the Attock area of Punjab, British India in 1938.^{citation needed} His father Chaudhary Sardar Khan was an influential fuedal landlord^{citation needed} He was educated at Burn Hall School, Abottabad, from around 1948-1957.^{citation needed} He was selected for the Pakistan Army and enrolled at the Pakistan Military Academy.^{citation needed}
