It is misleading to imply that Lourenço Marques was IN Portugal but I accept that the Mozambique flag is an anacronism. I hope the current comprimise is acceptable to all A Geek Tragedy
Furthermore, mid 20th century UN and international convention among the nations of the time, recognised those colonies as belonging within the jurisdiction and sovereignty of the so called "colonial power". In the case of Portugal at the time of it's colonies independence, those citizens where given the choice to be Portuguese or Mozambican, Angolan, etc. Eusébio chose Portuguese despite having the option to change again if he ever decided to. Despite his personal childhood friendship with then Monzambique Minister of Foreign Affairs Mr. Joaquin Chissano, Eusébio howed great disappointment in the way the post independence Mozambican revolutionary policy of indiscriminate nationalizations, come to affect his own ownership of properties he had previously invested in as a retirement nest egg. Excuse me, but I beleive this article will make huge progress if we get a, preferably up to date, picture of the man himself, not just a statue of him, although the statue may stay as another picture. Mcjm4796 ( talk) 09:20, 1 October 2009 (UTC)
IIRC, Sir Jack Charlton ranked him above Pele. I'm not sure how widely that view is held but he could kick a ball extraordinarily hard; I remember a long freekick he took against Man United in 1968 which hit the crossbar and which Alec Stepney in goal had got nowhere near.

I think this statement is a bit bold, given that Just Fontaine, who scored 13 goals at the 1958 world cup was from Morocco. Certainly somebody scoring 13 goals at a world cup has to be a world-class striker, right? —Preceding unsigned comment added by Frodo 05 ( talk • contribs) 12:26, 12 July 2010 (UTC)
Are the statement and comments refering to a "black african" or purely just anyone from "africa"? CharlieCares ( talk) 06:19, 22 May 2018 (UTC)

Can anyone add any info about this at all? Presumably he hasn't just sat around doing nothing for 30+ years? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 81.108.241.233 ( talk) 19:12, 21 December 2010 (UTC)
The section on his death has been expanded to include a lengthy list of quotes and tributes from various people, to the extent that it's now longer than the section about his career at Benfica. This is surely excessive - the article should focus on his life, not what people said about his death. The list of quotes should be pared back to only the most notable ones, with perhaps a list of others who also made tributes. See something like Sócrates#Legacy and death for a more reasonable section (while noting that they're not quite on the same level of importance). Robofish ( talk) 15:10, 5 January 2014 (UTC)
