Cramp 1985 gives the wingspan of the European roller as 66–73 cm. [1] The concise edition edited by Snow and Perrins repeats these dimensions. [2]
I believe this is an error - the wingspan should be much smaller. Cramp suggests the roller is of similar size to the Eurasian jay - for which he gives a wingspan of 52–58 cm. [3] The Collins Bird Guide gives the wingspan of the European roller as 52–57.5 cm. [4]
