A lot of text just added here came directly from [ [1]]. Although that site says that it can be distributed, it also says on the same page that material is copyright and permission must be given. The edits here said "courtesy of emdaa" but it's not clear what that meant. If explicit permission is given by emdaa, please note as such and also according to terms noted on their page, probably also need to have explicit statement about GPL distribution. And then, it would need editing & wikifying. :-) Thanks. Elf | Talk 20:14, 8 December 2005 (UTC)

as the secretary of the EMDAA I/we do give permission for this history to be reproduced on wikipedia. (we put it here .. and yes .. wikifying is a great idea)
removed the category 'herding' from this breed, as it is NOT a herding dog. It is a livestock guardian (there seems to be no category for livestock guardian, nor for working dog ... maybe someone will create it .. or take the page for livestock guarding and make it a category.

Not sure why there is objection to the actual name of the dog, the New Zealand registration, or additional information, or inline references, but I assume this is one of those instances in which the reverter believes that only US-based information is of interest to Wikipedians around the world. -- Hafwyn ( talk) 13:59, 7 October 2008 (UTC)
who are you? there are like 2 EMDs in all of NZ (1 is neutered) ... the breed is Portuguese, and that's the information that is important. If the NZ breed standard is listed, then we'd have to list the breed standard for every single country ... i can see having the US, UK, and FCI standard .. as those are what's globally used.
I also see no value add in adding the silly stuff from the huge italian 'list' of 'dangerous' dogs ... the list is so huge, and all it does it makes this breed look bad. as i recall there were even dogs like keeshonds on the italian list.
some of the information posted just didn't 'seem' right .. asin .. nickname of 'star mountain dog' .. i know of NO ONE that calls the Estrela a 'star mountain dog' ...
what is your experience with the EMD .. who are you? —Preceding unsigned comment added by Traceywashere ( talk • contribs) 15:59, 7 October 2008 (UTC)

Yes, I represent the club (secretary) that wrote the history of the EMD for the club website. We have since removed any semblance of copyright ownership (it was poached anyway) and in the interest of having the most complete information published on wikipedia on this breed, we completely removed the copyright statement.
So, not sure what the issue is any more.
this page http://emdaa.com/breed-history states no copyright.
Regardless, I am following instructions to grant sharing ....
