The article mentions Esquimalt being incorporated as a city in 1912; yet the municipality is officially a township, which I don't believe is equivalent to a city. In fact, where I come from (Ontario), townships are generally a kind of rural municipality. So, what is Esquimalt's actual status? 66.183.165.57 01:58, 7 January 2007 (UTC)
As the article says it is a (district) municipality. This is because the area incorporated is greater than 800 hectares and has an average population density of less than 5 persons per hectare. I assume the laws were different in 1912, because the province had a much smaller population at that time, and people weren't so hung up on titles for communities. =) The other definitions are here. - TheMightyQuill 05:04, 9 January 2007 (UTC)
This section reads a lot like a Chamber of Commerce pamphlet. Some information on the economy, demographics (not just a StatsCan list but basic info on trends) and the impact of/relationship with CFB Esquimalt (or even a wikilink) would be handy. Happy to contribute, but I'm not in BC so someone with a better knowledge of the area would probably be better suited. Blotto adrift 14:52, 5 February 2007 (UTC)
I have a question/comment regarding the pronunciation. The vowel between the m and the lt is not listed (all by itself, as it is found here) in the http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Help:IPA_for_English document. Either the pronunciation here should be changed or the IPA page should change. I assume the former. Unfortunately, I don't actually know how Esquimalt is correctly pronounced. (Which is why I came to the page in the first place. ;-)) Should this pronunciation not be corrected? Thank you.-- DCH ( talk) 17:50, 9 July 2008 (UTC)

Esquimalt, British Columbia → Esquimalt – Target redirects to current title, which is the primary use, and why the redirect targets here. Esquimalt (disambiguation) exists for all secondary uses. Skookum1 ( talk) 02:25, 19 March 2014 (UTC)
